The Bank of England is adding Polygon for their Digital Pound Lab stablecoin testing.

Alongside other companies such as Dun & Bradstreet and Nobo Finance, Polygon and its underlying Open Money Stack will play a big role in experimenting with stablecoins for new types of transfers.

In the second phase of the Digital Pound Lab, the Bank of England and its list of partners are focusing on simulating new scenarios for the Digital Pound.

This includes a variety of different use-cases such as integrating digital wallets, e-commerce, checkout and confirmations, conditional payments, as well as cross-border settlement.

Each participant has its dedicated role, with Polygon assisting in the emerging payments space.

A few weeks ago, the Bank of England also published an updated regulatory outlook for the UK.

Polygon the Stablecoin Network

Polygon has been on a very clear path to enabling greater stablecoin adoption in 2026.

The chain that first became popular back in 2021 at the peak of the crypto bull market took a few years to rebrand into a pure-play payments chain. The value proposition is clear.

Recently, Polygon released a sneak peak of their Open Money Stack dashboard for enterprises.

It allows clients to manage onchain stablecoin transactions for B2B invoicing and treasury management, open virtual accounts, and work with privacy enabled stablecoin transfers.

Polygon is also powering everyday volumes from large businesses such as Polymarket and Deel.

It hit a peak stablecoin market cap on its chain of $3.7B in June 2026 per DefiLlama metrics.
