Visa Direct has announced that it will be piloting a stablecoin pre-funding program, according to the company’s press release and is the company’s real-time payments platform for global payouts.

The global payments network released new information at Frankfurt’s SIBOS conference 2025 on its plans to expand the stablecoin strategy for users across the world.

This will include ensuring that accounts can be topped up via stablecoins for businesses, especially during times when cross-border transfers and trading are restricted.

President at Commercial & Money Movement Solutions, Chris Newkirk expressed:

While this is largely planned for the better part of 2026 and aimed at banks, merchants and remittance partners, Visa has already been actively participating in supporting existing stablecoins such as $USDC and partnering with growing stablecoin cards, such as Rain and Kast to help users pay with their stablecoin balances.
