Wyoming has officially launched their own stablecoin called FRNT.

The first U.S. state to do so publicly for the American people has revealed the Frontier Stable Token stablecoin is now live on the Solana network. A partnership with popular exchange Kraken means users are able to purchase and use it already at the start of the new year.

Having a government controlled stablecoin is certainly an interesting prospect that will reveal over the coming months the kinds of limitations it faces and utility it could bring.

If the underlying yield from the reserves (in this case very similar to the GENIUS requirements) goes back to the state, and local adoption is picked up for financing public infrastructure projects, this could make for a new type of digital currency integration not seen before.

And one that if deemed very successful, will make other states follow suit.
