Open Standard revealed a new management model for OUSD.

Open Standard is considering applying a fixed fee per payment transaction settling with its OUSD stablecoin and an updated equity offer to founding members.

According to a reporting by Coindesk, this means that payments will have to pay 0.1 basis points of the amount per transaction, while sums over the $1K mark may be capped at $0.01.

Recently, Open Standard launched its OUSD stablecoin.

Stablecoin Network Fees

Stablecoins may see more adoption under new models.

Open Standard had revealed several founding members at the end of September as Visa, Shopify, Coinbase, Mastercard, and Stripe push their global distributions.

It will be offering them 5% stake from an annual equity pool.

The closest model currently is managed by Paxos under its USDG stablecoin, which acts like a consortium and brings yield-sharing rewards to participants. Yet its mechanism differs.

Here, Open Standard is taking on longer, broader bet on the stablecoin transaction volume that builds up as a result. It wants an efficient and increasing revenue model too.

This removes the traditional bulk of the revenue coming simply from reserves assets held.

It will be interesting to see how banking institutions will engage with OUSD.

Recently, Standard Chartered received a direct access to mint/redeem Circle’s USDC in UAE, while also establishing a similar arrangement with Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin.
