Rain has announced that it is acquiring the Ansa team.

Ansa enables merchants to accept payments from customer balances using the same payment rails. One of its core products is offering a mobile-friendly digital wallet to manage everyday spend.

As Ansa’s Founder and CEO Sophia Goldberg expressed, there is now opportunity to offer “customers a branded app with spending power, rewards, and a card that works across multiple locations”.

Sophia will subsequently become Rain’s Head of Payments helping to scale this use-case.

Overall, this means that Rain’s stablecoin card issuance and infrastructure stack is now broad enough to go after more businesses who have large customer networks.

Back in January, Rain had raised $250M in a Series C and became a stablecoin unicorn company.

Moving Beyond Stablecoins

This acquisition marks an important step for Rain.

Rain had 2 acquisitions in 2025 including UpTop for native rewards and Fern for easier transfer of stablecoin deposits, while also acquiring Guardrail AI in June 2026 for onchain security.

Recently, it also launched stablecoin rewards.

Led by Co-Founders Farooq Malik and Charles Yoo-Naut, Rain is at a stage where simply going after stablecoin companies is no longer the core target audience. In fact, the market is much larger.

The growth it is seeing means it can service regional SMBs and large global corporates who would benefit from 24/7 payments and native, branded reward mechanisms.

The fact that this is built on stablecoins is completely abstracted away, unless clients ask for them directly.

With principal memberships from both Visa and Mastercard to sponsor card programs, the company has enough of a competitive advantage to grow into one of the biggest modern day card businesses worldwide.
